Fuesent and Buergbrennen
Luxembourg's carnival, called Fuesent, peaks in late February or early March depending on Easter. The biggest parade is the Cavalcade in Diekirch, drawing 20,000 spectators on a Sunday afternoon — book Diekirch or Ettelbruck rooms two months out. Remich holds its own Cavalcade the following Sunday. In the city itself the celebrations are milder: a children's parade in Bonnevoie and costume nights in bars around the Gare. The following weekend, Buergbrennen bonfires burn across every village on the first Sunday of Lent to mark the end of winter.
Rates and what to do otherwise
Outside carnival weekends, February is cheap. Ibis and Novotel at Kirchberg sit around $95, and boutique places in Clausen drop to 130. Weather is still cold — 4 to 7 degrees — but daylight stretches to 17:30 by month end. This is a strong month for museum days: the Mudam on Kirchberg, the Casino Luxembourg contemporary art space, and the Musée National d’Histoire et d’Art all run without queues. The Mullerthal trails around Echternach are hikeable if muddy, and the sandstone gorges look striking bare of leaves.

Do I need to book ahead for Buergbrennen?+
Not for the bonfires themselves — they are village-level events, free and open. But if you want to see the large one in Ettelbruck or Echternach, arrive by 18:00 and expect no restaurant tables without a reservation.
